3 extraordinary walks through Paris
Walking along an old railroad
This route will take you and your students from Bastille to Bois de Vincennes. The 'coulée verte' or 'promenade plantée' is an old railroad that ran through the east of the city until 1969. It is a unique walk with a beautiful green view over the streets.
A journey through time along the covered galleries
We can still hardly imagine it, but Paris was anything but a modern city until the second half of the 17th century. There were no sewers, streets were narrow and dark - not exactly the most pleasant environment for shopping. A solution to this came with the covered shopping arcades that run from the Rue du Faubourg Montmartre to the Jardin du Palais Royal, among others.
A tour of a true metropolis
Paris is so much more than croissants and buildings in the typical Haussman style we often associate with the French capital. A total of 110 different nationalities live there. This walk will take you past the Japanese quarter near the Opéra to the Jewish quarter in the Marais, across the Seine to the Insititut du monde arabe to the Grande Mosquée. At the end you can enjoy the beautiful Jardin des Plantes.
